Counter Arguement?

This Bin laden stuff is raising many views and arguments.
i found this on FB, but the source will have to stay anonymous

"And additionally, I REJOICE IN THE DEATH OF OSAMA BIN LADEN. If you don't, it's your choice, but I find you to be less intelligent for it, not more compassionate. Compassion for evil? That's ridiculous."

what do you think?

we need forums lol

that person is right. But so is Martin Luther King.

it depends on which rules you are playing with. if all that mattered was this life, this existence on earth, it makes sense that you would want to kill all your enemies.

but if you lived this life in preparation for your children's lives and for the afterlife, you have a different set of rules. if that wasn't true, why are so pro-violence americans fearing retaliation now? you'd want the world to be a better place, and part of that is believing that your enemies (and yourself) can change to accept and love each other. even the most pro violence group will admit that hate only begets hate. if they are comfortable with living in hatred, fine they can do that.

additionally, the person making that comment is a fool. i have no compassion for evil. Jesus says to hate the sin but to love the sinner. sometimes there is no choice but to destroy the sinner, but i do so out of necessity and pity that his life was so filled with evil.

To restate my opinions, Osama deserved his death but it doesnt feet right for me to rejoice. If others want to rejoice, they have that right.

No one is "the better man" when it comes to these opinions. We simply live by a different set of rules.

It tells you how MLK would have dealt with violence. I believe that what he says is true, but that involves GREAT suffering at our hands. And that is not something I can live with. And so I take the middle road: somewhere between the mottos of MLK and USMC... forgive if you can, kill if you must.

If a criminal murders your family, will you not rejoice to hear of his capture and death? Yes, I'd be very happy for an evil person can no longer do harm to others. I rejoice the same way in Bin Laden's death. Celebrating is fine, just don't over do it. Yelling USA in the streets is not needed. Instead, we should spend our time remembering those we've lost and and the lives they lived. Whatever inspiration you get, use it to change your families, then your community and maybe one day the world.

In related news, has anyone seen the pictures released by reuters of the dead men inside the compound? Dam bloody man!

chris makes a good point. its like a band of villagers that celebrate the killing of a violent tiger that killed many people from the village. of course they should be happy because that tiger can no longer do harm. so how do you celebrate? i guess some wine and dancing is in order. but to say "burn in hell you motherfucking tiger" is totally missing the point. it only shows that instead of celebrating in freedom from the tiger, it shows that the villagers are still held by the fear and hate that the tiger has on them.

people have said to celebrate too much is insensitive, and to not celebrate at all is unpatriotic. i guess both sides are right. so let's stick to the middle path: a good celebration with a solid fistpump, then get back to work at making this world a better place.
